Happy New Year!

“We will open the book.
Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called Opportunity
and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”
~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce

My New Year story began with one of my favorite kinds of days -- all tucked inside, away from the world, just me and my grand gentlemen. I love these precious days when there are no pressing demands on my time, no places I must go, no things that I must accomplish (not that they aren't piling up in my tomorrows, mind you). Instead, I enjoyed some beloved moments of solitude, when my body awakened at its usual hour and all the rest of the house remained quiet. Oh the bliss!

My sweet husband got up and made breakfast for us all. What a dear man! Then, I reveled in the happiness of my dear ones as we spent the day together. There were games to be played, a movie to watch, and fun to be had. A few of the gents snuck outside now and again, but I was content to stay inside for one day. Mustang Man worked on a car with a friend. M & K went off to work (poor souls). I found time to do a little digging on our family history and do some reading while the younger three gents played video games. It was a day with a lot of laughter and family moments ... the perfect beginning to a New Year in my book.
