Well, the gents made it home safe and sound from Boundary Waters. They had a fun time and came back with plenty of stories to tell. Chad is convinced that he is getting too old for this. Michael has a new, not so kind perspective on 12 year olds... interesting considering it wasn't that long ago that he was one. Kodi has a camera full of pictures and is threatening to post a short video of his older brother's antics in some very cold water on youtube. William loved it all, can't wait to go back, and swears to remember his hat next time. (He is currently sporting a sunburnt and peeling scalp.) Jon is thrilled that he has completed enough requirements to pass off another scout rank and is only beginning to show some remorse for his long lost hair.
Andrew is recovering well and loves having everyone back home. We had a good time together but one mom just does not make up for four brothers and dear old Dad. Besides, they are all prepared to cater to his every whim, feeling sorry for the boy with the sore toe ... when mother knows he's ready to do things for himself again.
But today they are on their own again. I left this morning for a conference. I'm sure they feel sorry for me. I got here and found out that my room request was not available. So, I got bumped to an executive suite instead. Poor Mom. The quiet is a little unnerving tonight. But I guess I will figure out a way to deal with it.
Maybe it will help if I remind myself that just one short week from now I will be camping with the young women for five days. I'm sure I will come home with many stories. Hopefully I will remember my hat and the sunscreen.
