Victory!

I've had an ongoing battle with J and his hair. He'd prefer for it to be shoulder length, I'd prefer for it to be much more conservative. We've found middle ground while maintaining our opposite desires regarding the length.

This week, I'm thrilled to announce that I have achieved victory (at least temporarily). J kept wishing that his buddy Chris would go with them on their high adventure trip. Through a turn of events, I was tipped off that there was a possibility J would get his wish. So, I took advantage of that bit of information and asked J if Chris joined the trip, would J shave his head. J agreed.

Last night, J asked if he could do the shaving himself. This is a huge difference since even a small trim is often interpreted as major trauma by J. In fact, he often hides his new haircuts with hoodies and hats for several days. Trauma. In contrast, last night was absolute bliss. J had a grand time shaving parts of his head and then showing off his do in stages. He was smiling and laughing as he morphed from long locks to emo to mohawk to nothing.

VICTORY!

I will get to enjoy an entire summer of J's acceptable length hair. Now to devise another brilliant plan to motivate him next time around...

how funny! I dread the day I will actually have to give tui a real hair cut. J is such a handsome little bald thing!
