Climbing the Family Tree

MORMONAD:
Invest in BONDS
Invest yourself in your family.
The payoffs start now and continue through eternity.
(See Hymns no. 300)

Big-J had an interesting weekend homework assignment. He had to write a paragraph summarizing the life of each family member from him back to the first person to come to America. Hmmmmmm.

I dabble in family history work, and have tons of information gathered for various family lines. However, I had to call for some help on this assignment. (Thank you, Mom!) The shortest route from Big-J to our first American immigrant is through me, to my dad, to his dad, to his mother (my Great Grandma Rose).

It seems like I keep getting these little nudges to get busy on our genealogy. And I can't get this Primary song out of my mind....

Genealogy -- I am doing it,
My genealogy.
And the reasons why I am doing it
Are very clear to me.
I will make a book
Of remembrance
I'll write my history.
It's a record
Of my family
My genealogy!

(So, that's how I remember it. I'm not sure the words are right. They changed them in the new songbook for Primary.)

Speaking of Primary songs...you should have been on my front porch yesterday afternoon. The missionaries were here and we were planning the baptism program for Stormin's girlfriend, Lovely. She doesn't know many songs, so she asked us to sing many of them to her in order for her to choose the ones she wanted. Some of the passing neighbors gave us interesting looks, but it was fun to serenade her anyway. If you want to know what she picked you'll have to attend her baptism next Sunday night at 6:00. :)
