How does your garden grow?

I was pleased to see my lawn was in full bloom for my graduation day, dressed in the colors of the day -- purple and gold. My mom admired my special decorations with me.

I liked my weeds just fine that day. Violets and dandelions count for purple and gold flowers in my book. In fact, my gentlemen have carried on the great tradition of picking bouquets full of them and presenting them to me. I love it! Who wants a boring green lawn anyway?

I'm also thrilled to see two other flowers doing well in the yard this year. My bleeding hearts have been spectacular this year, including the transplant that the local critters helped me with.

I didn't realize the birds had helped. But, this spring they began blooming in a new location.

Now we are at the beginning of the peony bloomings. I'm so excited to actually get to see the blooms this year! Sometimes the buds get picked before they open. So far, so good this year.

I'm also excited about all the new things growing in the garden out back. My herbs are sprouting in pots on the deck. The garden plot is growing tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, carrots, eggplant, squash, gourds, pumpkins, watermelon, cantelope, zucchini, brussel sprouts, and cucumbers. The strawberry patch is also doing fabulously. (Special thanks to my friend, Jamie, for sharing her plants with us to get it going again.)

What's growing in your garden?

How funny - I took pics of our bleeding hearts the other day, but haven't posted them yet - I figure I have posted enough crazy flower pics for awhile - lol - although, I love the way my apple blossom pics turned out - so pretty.

I don't know what all is in our garden - we're renting, so it's whatever the owner's wife liked. Some of it is very pretty. I could do without the dandelions. Unsightly!

This is our first try at a garden! I am starting small since I haven't tried this before. We are only taking on a few herbs (basil, oregano, cilantro & rosemary), tomatoes & peas. I'll let you know how it goes!

I love the pictures of all the flowers. My garden is a bit dry...oh wait we pretty much gave up on gardens last year! Desert summer just proves to be to much and if you should forget to water just once that is pretty much it.

If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart!
