Perhaps I am crazy, but at the consult with the oral surgeon this morning, I agreed to let Moose have his four wisdom teeth removed on Friday. I know what the problem is. The same oral surgeon removed my wisdom teeth like 18 years ago and therefore I did not have any wisdom in making this decision. That's my excuse for this moment of insanity. Well, that and the fact that Moose's other option was the week of Youth Conference. He didn't want to miss that.
Moose was amused when he watched the information video and heard that wisdom teeth come in at the age of wisdom. Great. Like I really needed my 15 year old to have another reason to think he knows everything?
Panda should be feeling pretty good by Friday. He's already doing great during the day. It's the night hours that continue to be a struggle. I think it's because he gets so much more dried out since he isn't drinking anything while he's sleeping. Last night he refused to take his pain meds for a while. After they were finally swallowed and active, he croaked out, "Sorry, Mom. I love you." This after, "Get away from me! You're trying to kill me!" Oh the joys of motherhood.
At least we already have many soft, easy to swallow foods on hand for Panda and Moose. Right?

Good luck with Moose's teeth! I had mine out at 15 too! I remember having a "last meal" at McDonald's beforing heading in to have mine out. I remember the first day being a little rough after the numbing medicine wore off. After that, it was all rich milkshake goodness!
Oh my goodness I just don't even really know what to say. Funny comment from Panda, but oh so very not funny to hear as Mom. Hopefully after this Friday with Moose and his healing time period things will be calm.
If I was still working as a dental assistant I would love to take out his teeth! That was my favorite!!!! Am I creepy?
Good luck Moose!
Oh yea. A few tips....take icepacks with you for after. The quicker you get your face on ice the less swelling there is. #2 Chill out for 2 days....that means on your behind on the couch. Have a movie marathon! Too much moving around is not good!!! Believe me. I am the queen of dry sockets!
If you need any more tips, just call.
Oh, so much going on! Keep smiling, it will all be a funny memory soon enough. The rites of growing up always have to hurt.
