Late nights and long weeks

Chad has begun working third shift and that seems to make my nights longer. I can't seem to sleep well without him here. I guess that should be expected considering I've spent the last 18 years sleeping beside my honey. His new sleep patterns aren't that great either yet. I'm hoping we'll both figure it out soon and be back to catching a respectable number of zzzzzz's.

Tonight, I decided to spend a bit of my night owl time updating the blog.
This week I was supposed to be at Young Women's camp. Things started out well and I am so grateful for all the people that had a hand in making things go smoothly. However, the weather seemed to be working against us and we ended up coming home on Tuesday evening instead of Friday afternoon. Bishop Jolley and Brother Keefe were our heroes that night, helping us to quickly break camp and get it all packed up. They also were the great men to provide blessings to sick girls that needed them.

Our brief time at camp was full of adventures and I'm certain we all have some great stories to share. There couldn't have been a better group of young women to laugh, work, and grow together. Next year we will have more time together and many more memories to build.
I was able to deliver all of the young women to their homes safe and sound Tuesday night before my vehicle decided to act up. Chad talked me through a repair job (tightening a loose battery cable) at 11:30 Tuesday night to get me back on the road to home. However, this was only a foreshadowing of things to come. Chad checked the Suburban when he got home from work and gave me the all clear to meet Tina Rodebush and finish getting our camp items that had been stored in Bishop Jolley's truck.

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that the battery needed to be replaced. This involved complete embarrassment for parking across several parking stalls to quickly return some keys and then not being able to move my vehicle out of the way. Ugh. (Sorry, Dr. Jolley.) Tina kindly returned to the scene to try to give me a jump start when I couldn't get it running again on my own. She even stayed with me while I waited for further assistance. (You rock, Tina!!)

Many thanks to Sam Moss for coming to check it out and even getting it started one last time with that worn battery. Even more thanks when he helped me push it out of the intersection when it died again before I could get very far. I still can't believe the two of us could push that monster as far as we did... and thanks also to the great gal at Dr. Jolley's office who helped us get over the last hump with the beast. Sam got me to the store to buy a new battery and even explained that the extreme weather change the day before was the likely culprit in sapping the last of the battery. By the time we returned, Chad was also on the scene and the two of them had the new battery installed in no time. Hooray!

It's nice when such things don't happen at all, but I am so grateful for all the wonderful people that gave their time and talents to help. What a blessing!
