Grandma Grimm was one amazing lady! She was remarkable simply in the fact that she lived so long, and all that occurred in the span of her lifetime that she was witnessed. But, she was also remarkable for the way that she lived her life. Family was deeply important to her. It was interesting that in making her plans for the celebration of her life, she wanted no church service or fuss, but she did want the family to gather together and share a meal. This is surely evidence that she knew what is most important -- our family!
I loved listening to my own gents describe things that they remembered about Grandma Grimm and their favorite things about her. Andrew can remember her the least, being the youngest, but her passing really touched his heart. His middle name is Grandma Grimm's maiden name (Scott). I also enjoyed learning new things about her during the graveside gathering, like the fact that this tiny little woman played basketball. It was fun to see the smiles as her son (my father-in-law) and each of her grandchildren recounted special memories of Grandma. She will be sorely missed here on earth.
